Honeywell announced yesterday that it has successfully acquired Datamax-O'Neil, a global manufacturer of fixed and mobile printers used in a variety of retail, warehouse and distribution, and health care applications.

The deal, reportedly worth $185million , was initially announced in December of 2014 and positions Honeywell Scanning and Mobility to expand in the $1.5billion global barcode printing segment.

"Today is an exciting day for Honeywell and Datamax-O'Neil, as we join together to meet and exceed the needs of our combined customers, while staking out a leadership role in the estimated $1.5billion global barcode printing segment," said John Waldron, President, Honeywell Scanning & Mobility.

"We've been at the forefront of the AIDC industry for more than 40 years, helping customers be more efficient in how they move and track assets from one location to another, and process the information related to those transactions. Thermal printing and media are important components of our strategy to offer customers one of the industry's broadest portfolios of ruggedised mobile computers, scanners, voice-enabled workflow solutions, printing, software and service capabilities."

Datamax-O'Neil will be integrated with Honeywell Scanning & Mobility to augment the existing ability to deliver enhanced workflow performance for business customers.
