Highly Regulated Industries Given Mobile Security Boost by Innovative End-to-End Solution
Mobile app management (MAM) specialists Apperian Inc. today announced integration with Mocana Atlas, a platform for delivering and driving adoption of highly secure, connected enterprise mobile apps with a consumer-level experience.
This integration is set to expand Apperian's existing mobile app security portfolio, as well as offering customers in highly regulated settings or those with demanding security needs a new, cost-effective method for establishing secure, per-app VPN access to corporate networks.
Industries which are governed by stern data security standards, such as finance, insurance, health care and government, often run purpose-built mobile apps that require access to information behind corporate firewalls.
Most often, this is accomplished by granting mobile devices access to legacy VPN infrastructures, a dated approach which is costly and difficult to manage. Thus far, VPN solutions have not been designed with a mobile user in mind, nor to manage the volume and nature of mobile traffic, leading to weak performance and poor user experience.
As a result, Apperian and Mocana will look to solve this problem by providing the first end-to-end solution that is built specifically for mobile apps and optimised for security, scalability, end user experience and ease of management.
"This completely changes the game in regulated and security-centric industries, where historically purpose-built apps could only be deployed to corporate-owned and managed devices," explained Alan Murray, Senior Vice President of Products at Apperian. "The real value is in the app. Rather than expensive and time-consuming legacy approaches, we've made it possible for virtually any enterprise mobile app to be securely connected to the corporate network and deployed to a user's device of choice, without need to modify the app's code. Enabling workers with the transformative power of mobile apps in highly secure settings has never been easier, faster, or more scalable."
Apperian's MAM platform provides thorough security and dynamic policy controls at the individual app level, ensuring safe app deployment without requiring device management solutions in place. The new integration with Mocana Atlas extends Apperian's native mobile app security capabilities.
Other benefits for enterprise app owners and administrators include leveraging the Mocana Atlas per-app VPN policy to apps through Apperian's admin console with one-click that requires no coding or software development kit; securing any app with two-factor certificate-based authentication and a FIPS-certified termination point at the edge of their network; connecting any app into secured corporate networks via a high-volume, high-performance VPN connection; separating business app traffic from other device traffic, ensuring that only enterprise relevant traffic enters the corporate network, keeping malware at bay and raising compliance standards; and delivering a consumer-like app experience, as simply launching the app to open it seamlessly connects it to the Mocana Atlas gateway.
"Organisations are mobilising enterprise applications and extending rich functionality and data to workers throughout the extended enterprise, which creates highly complex IT requirements. This partnership provides the ability to manage those requirements end-to-end, through a single source that ensures the highest levels of security," added Alan Panezic, Vice President of Products at Mocana. "Apperian's mobile app management platform is the industry's most complete solution for managing enterprise mobile apps. By combining Apperian with Mocana Atlas, customers can ensure that their data-in-flight is secure while making the deployment process extremely user friendly, even when accessed by un-managed devices."
