Businesses are investing in a lot of resources into the development of enterprise mobile apps, so it is only natural for C-Suite to expect that those apps are generating significant business value. Some organizations struggle to achieve ROI for an enterprise mobile app, especially with the rising cost to develop an effective one. According to a February 2019 survey by Enterprise Mobility Exchange, 46% of enterprises are only achieving ROI less than 25% of the time.

Several issues —including lack of communication with C-Suite, failure to identify the business goals, and budgeting — could derail the success of an enterprise mobile app before it gets deployed. Creating a measurable plan with trackable metrics is imperative, but some enterprise apps have easier metrics to track than others, which complicates the process.

Most enterprises cannot afford to have a failing mobile app, yet it happens all of the time because developers struggle to meet the needs of the end user.

“There needs to be a more business-oriented approach,” said Ryan Martin, principal analyst with ABI Research. “It’s not just about usability. Usability will come if it’s a valuable application.”
