Joe Norton serves as Senior Vice President, Deputy CIO Phillips IT, and Head of Philips IT Infrastructure & Operations. He is responsible for strategy, plans, delivery and operations for providing worldwide information technology capabilities throughout Philips and its supplier and customer base. Joeã??s organization supports 592 sites, 120,000 employees, an ecosystem of 10 strategic IT suppliers and +100M customers.

He is dual based at two of Philips largest operations centres located in Eindhoven, Netherlands and Andover, Massachusetts, USA..Joe mitigates his not insignificant travel schedule with extensive use of enterprise video and online conferencing technologies.

Joe has also held positions as:

  • Executive-in-Residence, McKinsey & Company
  • VP & CTO, McDonaldã??s Corporation
  • VP Corporate Technology, JPMorgan Bank
  • CTO for the National Transportation Exchange.

He has also held senior professional and executive roles with Grumman Aerospace Corporation, Sybase, Inc., and Oracle Corporation.

Joe lectures and teaches at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, the University of Chicagoã??s School of Business, the University of Illinois Business School and at DePaul University on a range of topics related to complex product development, delivery and operations, technology industry management, project management for executives, risk and IT investment analysis and IT contracting and sourcing.

He is certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and is a past Vice President for Education and Member of the PMI Chicago Executive Council

Mr. Norton is a veteran of the United States Navy. He served as an operations and technology specialist aboard the fast attack submarine USS Sturgeon (SSN-637). He obtained a B.S. in Information Management Systems from Empire State College of the State University of New York, and a MBA from the College of Business, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
