Enterprise Cloud Services Protected with New Android Mobile App

A leading provider of SaaS-based security and compliance solutions for public and hybrid cloud infrastructure, Dome9, has today released a mobile app for Android-based devices to strengthen the security of enterprise infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) cloud services.

The app enables organisations with large cloud networks, as well as complex firewalls and security group policies, to reduce unintended exposure to cloud assets, and protect them from breach by enabling time-bound on-demand access for IT professionals and other employees to cloud servers and services.

"Enterprises running mission-critical apps such as BI or ERP in the cloud face undue risk by leaving Internet-facing services open to the entire world for remote access, thereby exposing themselves to brute force attacks and OS and application vulnerabilities," explained Roy Feintuch, CTO of Dome9. "The Dome9 Instant Access app changes that by allowing enterprises to setup granular role-based access for users to cloud infrastructure elements, from the convenience of their Android phone or tablet. It's easy to use for end users and minimises the attack surface for the organisation."

This new Android app leverages a patent-pending Dome9 security control, named Dynamic Access Leases, which has proven to be instrumental in helping enterprise IT security teams address issues with cloud server access control, in a far more manageable way than ever before.

Administrators and IT professionals leave at-risk ports closed by default, and with this app, employees self-request and gain access to any service or server across cloud platforms, with a click of a button on their Android mobile devices. The access leases capability is also available for customers via the Dome9 web-based console for the Google Chrome browser, via an extension plug-in and via a mobile app for iPhones.

Guy Denney, CTO of Uturn Data Solutions, a Chicago-based Amazon Web Services Partner and Cloud Consultancy commented, "Our customers are big Fortune 500 firms, with mission-critical applications running in the cloud, and a large mobile workforce that needs to securely access these applications. Dome9 has been great in helping us keep those cloud operations safe, and we look forward to extending that protective cover with the new Android app."
