Dell Finalizes Record $60B Acquisition Of EMC
It was nearly a year in the making, but Dell’s acquisition of EMC for an IT record $60B is now complete, the company announced this week.
The move, which was originally announced in October 2015, needed to get through the Chinese government’s regulatory process in late August before a final approval. Dell said in a statement the acquisition is “creating a unique family of businesses that provides the essential infrastructure for organizations to build their digital future, transform IT and protect their most important asset, information.”
Dell Technologies now contains EMC, Boomi, Pivotal, RSA, SecureWorks, Virtustream, and VMware and is now the world’s largest privately controlled tech company, thanks to $74 billion in revenue.
EMC shareholders received $24.05 per share in cash for the acquisition, Wall Street Journal reported.
