Movers & Shakers: Apple Snaps Up Google’s AI Chief, NYC CTO Going Private
At Enterprise Mobility Exchange, we focus on the challenges enterprises face in the world of mobile transformation, and how those obstacles are overcome with technological advancement. What’s often not discussed, however, is the “who” behind these massive corporations and how they impact business practices.
This column, titled Movers & Shakers, focuses on which IT executives are making moves within the industry and what it means to their respective companies.
AI War Heats Up As Google Chief Departs For Apple
Blockbuster moves usually only happen in sports, but the tech industry saw a major swing over the last few weeks as Google’s Head of Artificial Intelligence and Search departed to become Apple’s leader of machine learning and AI strategy. John Giannandrea will now report directly to CEO Tim Cook. Giannandrea formerly served as CTO at Metaweb Technologies, which was acquired by Google in 2010.
CTO Heads To Digital Transformation Consulting Firm
Scott Snyder, former CTO of Safeguard Scientifics, announced in an open letter on his LinkedIn page that he’d be leaving his post and joining Heidrick & Struggles, “where I will be a partner leading digital transformation and innovation,” the post stated. Snyder sat down with Enterprise Mobility Exchange in 2017 for its Expert Practitioner series where he discussed the future of technology, particularly through the lens of healthcare. New York City’s CTO Exits Public Sector
Miguel Gamino, who’s spent the last decade in the public sector, announced he’ll be leaving his post as Chief Technology Officer for the City of New York. Announced via statescoop.com, Gamino wouldn’t explain his next venture, only that it was no longer in the public space. Before heading to NYC in 2016, Gamino was the CIO of the City and County of San Francisco, and held the same title in the City of El Paso before that.
